The radio description said that the cord was cut, so the working condition
was unknown. I pulled the chassis when I received it, and was surprised
to see that all the connections to the big multi-sectioned electrolytic
capacitor had been cut. The cap is still there, just not attached. There
is no replacement. Obviously, this is why the radio didn't work! I'll
have to order replacement caps, and recap the radio. Then it will need
a new cord. Hopefully, that will be all that is needed to bring this
beauty back to life!
The label is missing off this radio, so I have no idea what the model
number is. If anyone can identify this one, please
e-mail me!
I bought this cute Truetone radio off E-bay. From the description given,
and the picture, I thought perhaps this radio was made out of plaskon.
When I received it, I was surprised to find that it is a hard, brittle
plastic. This is the sort of plastic that is usually cracked, and this
Truetone does not have any cracks. The only defect in the case is a small
chip near one of the screw holes on the bottom. I like this radio more
and more, every time I look at it! I have been trying to accumulate
more of these "hard plastic" radios, but they are hard to find.
