I found this Sparton at a local antique mall. One of the dealers had
gotten in about 120 radios, but I hadn't been there in awhile - by the
time I got there, he had already sold about 30 of them. This Sparton
was one of the best of those that were left. It's a beautiful ivory
plaskon (I think), without the usual stress cracks that are found
in plaskon. It's possible that this radio is bakelite, but it really
feels like plaskon to me.
The radio seems to work fine as found. It could use a new cord, so
I'll try and do that at some point.
