This Philco was rescued from a junk shop. Overall, the radio was mostly just very dirty and needed a good cleaning. The knobs appear to be missing their brass inserts, or perhaps they just had a brass paint on the inside which has worn off. The white knobs look a little weird, but they are the originals! This radio is pictured in several of my books.

I've cleaned up the case, and the radio was working for a time. However while listening to it one night, one of the capacitors literally exploded inside the radio. Obviously, there's something seriously wrong in there! I'll take a closer look at it at some point..
