The chassis is quite dirty, but the set does power up and receives
broadcasts on the shortwave band.
For now, I've stripped the old lacquer finish off, and am working on
fixing a couple of the small veneer chips. Stay tuned for photos of the
completed radio!
This Airline tombstone dates to 1936, and was purchased for $40
during a vacation in Madison, WI. As you can see, the finish is in
pretty rough shape (you can see
the lacquer is coming off), but the wood is in good shape except for a
couple
of small veneer chips.
Here's the radio after stripping. Now, I just need to fix the veneer
chips and stain and lacquer! Sounds easy, right?
